I do keep my books organized, but my methods are my own. I have them grouped by genre first, and then by author, but not alphabetical. Series books are always kept in order, but my favorite books (or series) get prominence. After that, it's aesthetics. I want to be able to locate a particular book with relative speed and ease. I want to look at my books and see my favorites right away because they bring me pleasure. I want the overall appearance to be orderly and eye-pleasing because, well, because I'm like that. No wabi-sabi!

Yes. Genre - author (alphabetically) - year first published (if more than one by the same author). Serials in order. One genre may be in two rooms at once, if one room's space for it runs out. Prefer one-row only, but willing to do two-rows. Etc.

I organize my books by author and book series (eg-Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter..etc)

But subject (I have WAY more non-fiction than fiction) and then by author. Fiction gets loosely divided by a highly subjective measure of how likely I am to reread, and under what conditions. (e.g. bedtime reading goes on the bookshelf in the bedroom, etc.)

Yes, but by size first, and then grouping series or comparable books together. If two books of similar height are similar colors, though, then I try and separate them so it doesn't look like one big block of color.

Yep, fiction by author and non-fiction by subject. I blame formerly working in a book store for this! I would probably still put them in order just alphabetically without that knowledge.
