Usually in my bed with no distractions, or alternatively on my couch or my parents couch with no distractions. That means no TV or anything else.

I do not do well if the TV is on; I'm the type that gets so distracted by the TV that I can't concentrate on anything else. Other people doing things will sort of distract me too.

Basically I need quiet.

My comfort zone was really small until about 8 months ago. I read almost exclusively mysteries with some sci-fi (Star Trek universe) and fantasy/urban fantasy thrown in for good measure, at least in terms of fiction. My non-fiction reading is a bit more eclectic and spans a number of subjects.

I spurned all things general fiction on general principle. (It's not so much general fiction, as popular fiction...it just happens that what falls under popular fiction is frequently general fiction.) About 8 months ago I decided that was incredibly closed-minded of me and that it was only hurting myself because I was missing out on some really good books. I am so glad that I changed my thinking, I've read some truly excellent books recently that I never would have read otherwise.

My comfort zone is fairy tales and mythology rewriting (be them fantasy, plays, magical realism, ethnology or horror).

If I define it this way, I have a small confort zone and read out of it often.

But I could also say that my confort zone is fantasy, horror, classics, detective stories, science books, children books, comics, and books about the French revolution. And that I'm almost never out of it.
