I'm rather uptight about the condition of my books. I don't think I have any 'bad' book habits as far as how I handle them. I don't dog-ear pages. I don't crack spines on hardcovers or paperbacks. I don't let my dust jackets get ripped or creased. I don't write in books. I'll keep a separate notebook if I need to take notes, and keep a TUMBLR for saving quotes from books.

Same. And anyway, I *love* making notes on separate paper :)

Lately my bad habit is leaving new books on the floor or the bed while I decide where to put them, and eventually I end up bumping them and scuffing up the corners/dust jackets.

Starting books, finishing the first few chapters, then never finishing them. :( My "Currently Reading" list is enormous because of this.

This. I have this same problem.

I do dog-ear pages. Not in library books or books belonging to anyone else, but in books I own, I do. I shouldn't, but I do. I try not to crack spines, though.

I usually don't but I did highlight my favorite bits in my copy of The Bell Jar and marked my favorite poems in Sylvia Plath's Collected Poems.

And I crack spines, but how can you not sometimes? I own all the books I have though so it's not a big deal.

I used to dog ear everything. I grew out of it when I got out of school.
