When I was in elementary school, I was obsessed with the Sweet Valley Twins series by Francine Pascal. It was my first experience with a book series where you could follow around the same characters book after book. I soon added The Baby-Sitters Club, by Ann M. Martin, and the short-run Friends 4-Ever series by Deirdre Corey. It was torture waiting for the next book to be released. I've always been a fast reader, so no one of these books lasted any decent length of time. I never did master the art of slowing down and savoring the experience.

I still have my copies of SVT and BBC up in the attic. Perhaps I'll have a granddaughter to give them to one day, so that she can roll her eyes at me the same way I do to my mom when she insists I should read the Nancy Drew series. I also begged my mom to let me read the Sweet Valley High series, but those books were always off-limits when I was young, and by the time I was old enough, I had moved on and the appeal was no longer there so I only read a handful of them.

I read the Sweet Valley Twins and BSC books but I don't remember what they were about.

lurlene mcdaniel books!! they were all about kids/teenagers with diseases. It was usually leukemia or other types of things that could happen to anyone, and they were all so heartbreaking but everyone at my school was addicted to them!

I don't really have much memory of my early reading days, but I was pretty into Enid Blyton's series. :)

I think my first series obsession was The Vampire Chronicles.
