Since I like to pretend that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, by J.K. Rowling, did NOT have an epilogue, I'll skip right over it and move on to this one...

Gone Girl, by Gillian Flynn, certainly has an ending that gets people talking. I will not reveal the ending here as to not spoil it for anyone. What I will say is that I think I probably had an a-typical reaction to the ending. I laughed. I laughed out loud. I laughed out loud long and hard. I actually predicted the ending, at least in general terms. Enough hints were given throughout. If these had been *actual* people, I wouldn't have laughed, of course. But, with the knowledge that they are fictional characters, I laughed until I had tears for the sardonic irony of it all.

I think I smirked too at the ending, but by that point, I was picturing a Coen brothers movie, a la Raising Arizona, where all the characters are broad and played humorously, while still tragic. Then I liked the ending.

Martel - "Life Of Pi"; the ending made me go "Pi, you little *SHIT*!!" And he seems to be so pleased with himself for ending the story like it is... :-/

I really can't think of one but the end of Death Comes to Pemberley I found quite annoying.
